Experience 7 course meal at SAMAROH!

‘Samaroh’ being a pure vegetarian restaurant, serves authentic north Indian cuisine. Food is served in specially designed brass (Kansa) dishes, which adds up on to the nutritional value of it. Pink and yellow themed interiors with bright lights, fancy hanging lamps, royal touch on the walls, comfortable pink-yellow wooden fabric sofas, make up the ambiance of Samaroh.

The seven-course meal kick-started with Moti Choor Ladoo. This will be our all time favorite recipe. Every spoon of Moti Choor was excellent in terms of sweetness.

Happiness is a tray full of wafers. Yes, up next was a tray filled with yummy wafers. Not to forget the accompaniments such as salad, pickle, Tamarind chutney, and Chili-Pudina chutney. The happy helpers’ refilled and refilled the tray, we just kept munching on them.

Tamatari Shorba, soup made of tomatoes, was over-tangy and barely had any flavors. It was definitely on a disappointing note, but the relishing flavors of Aam Panna made it up!

Tongue tickling Sev Batata Puri and Pani Puri were simply great. A four-part platter with Sandwich Dhokla, Tandoori Apple, Kathi Roll and Peeli Sarson Ka Paneer Tikka were other appetizers on the menu. We enjoyed feasting on these starters.

After the quick bites, it was time for the Rich Thali, the big picture. The gravy section had Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka Masala, Videshi Sabzi Desi Tadka, Samaroh Kofta, Channa Palak Sarson, Dal Pakwan and Palak Raitha. Under the Roti section, we got to try various rotis’ like Makki ki Roti, Phulka, and Tandoor Roti. Not to forget the tasty and filling Tawa Pulao with raitha, Curd Rice, and Steamed Rice.

All gravies were distinctive in terms of taste, color and texture. Tender and soft Cottage cheese cubes made in-house added on to the quality of the food.

No meal is complete without desserts, and Samaroh had Kesar Pista Shrikand, Rabdi Malpua, Kulfi, Akhrot Halwa and Indian Pan. Being a lover of sweets, I enjoyed every bite of it.

A perfect place to spend some time with family. Overall, we had a wonderful experience of Veg Indian cuisine. Thank you, Little App and team Samaroh  for having us! This is one of the best places for North Indian Thali any day.

Malgudi Vattika

On a bright sunny day, we pulled our seatbelts tight and set on a long drive towards Bidadi and little did we knew about Malgudi Vattika. Dropped off the car and looked out to see amazing restaurant amidst nature. Tall coconut trees, tiny shrubs, bright green grass, stone boards, antique furniture, good food, happy helpers made our long drive worthy 🙂

We were welcomed with cool lime soda and buttermilk which is just needed on a sunny day. A perfect cool welcome we would say 🙂 Lime Soda had right proportions of nimbu, sugar & salt and Buttermilk was perfectly blended with spices and coriander.

Halli Katte is a hidden treasure, spread behind the parking lot under the shades of lush greens which is used to host private events or group gatherings. A lot of board games like Snake-and-Ladder, Tic-Tac-Toe, Pagade (traditional game) and Alla-Gulli-Mane are available here, that just reminded us about our lively childhood 🙂

It’s a tradition in South India to start a meal with sweet to ensure a happy meal which is followed at Malgudi Vattika. We started with Kayi Holige and Menasinakai Bajji. Holige is a type of Indian sweet bread stuffed with coconut & jaggery (hoorna) which was fried perfectly and served with ghee. Bajji was served hot which left us for wanting more.

Paneer Tikka was next on the line, a vibrant dish both in terms of flavours and colors. Cottage Cheese marinated in spice mixture and cooked to perfection.

The most awaited South Indian meal was next on the line. The portions were huge and the copper plates made them heavy. This is a complete meal containing Curries, Salad, Chutney and Jolada Roti/Puri. There’s rice meal available too. There are very few places that prepare amazing Jolada Roti and Malgudi Vattika undoubtedly is one among them. Rice-rasam combo gave the perfect end to the long meal.

The meals were followed by Veg Handi Biriyani and Veg Pulao. Two rice dishes rich in flavours, looked alike (with one of them having paneer) while tasting unique. We’d say the presence of sweetness reminded us of days at Kerala.

Makkai ki Roti and Sarson da Saag, a dish as fancy as the name. The roti was loaded with butter & corn flavours. Sarson da Saag was a delight to taste buds. This being our first try with the dish, we weren’t let down.

After good starters and heavy meal, we ordered a couple of fresh fruit juices. Watermelon, Chikoo Milkshake and Pineapple are few to mention.

The ambience is bright with lush greens, high trees and cool breeze. If you’re one of those who’d travel to have good food, then you’re in for a treat at Malgudi Vattika. The entire setup gives you a nostalgic feel and starts right from the small light posts to the large dining tables. A class apart from the ones found in the city. One of the classiest that we have come across. The lawn has some of the highlights like antique furniture, a cycle, rustic trunk and a life-size bullock cart.

Not to forget, hospitality and the service were really good. Three cheers to the entire team of Malgudi Vattika 🙂
