Band Baaja Barbeque

What if you could really get to eat a wedding feast without having to wait for someone to get married? From golgappas to tangdi kabab, from grills to shadi ka biryani, from rasgulla to kulfis. Too good to be true for anyone, but not anymore.

You heard us right, Barbeque Nation is hosting a wedding themed festival, majorly based on the popular dishes served at a wedding.

The entire ambiance gave the feel of a typical wedding scene and the music can make anyone start dancing! The waiters were dressed up in the traditional wear and this is one of the reasons why we are regulars at Barbeque Nation – they take care of the tiniest detail.
BN

Barbeque Nation is known for its DIY on the grill, so without much further ado – we started off with some Pardesi piya ke Paneer Wale Tikke and Taka Tak Mushroomi Mausi on the grill. Of the both, mushroom turned out to be my fav because of it’s stuffing. Crispy Corn and Cajun Spiced Potato are the dishes we look forward to each time when we are at Barbeque Nation.
BN

Non-Veg starters were as good as veg counterparts with Nawabi Jija ke Gosht Seekh and Amritsari Fufa ji ki Machliyan. Not to forget the Tangdi Chicken! Perfectly cooked, tender and customised spice level – nothing can go wrong!
BN

The main course had a variety of dishes! Started off with some Chilli Chicken and Noodles before moving onto BIRYANI! Delicious chicken biryani after a long day of work is just what I needed.
BN

Do we like to finish in style? Definitely! I love the kulfi’s at BN and who’s to stop us? Paan’s my all time fav. Apart from this, we also had rasgulla, brownie, and the humble vanilla ice cream :p

The festival is on from 26th Oct to 12th Nov, so book your tables now and visit the nearest outlet (Indiranagar, JP Nagar, Lido Mall, Koramangala, Kalyan Nagar, Marathahalli, Rajajinagar, Electronic City and Whitefield).

Walk on the Streets of India under THE LEELA’s umbrella!

Street food is the most liked and outgrown one. There’s no end to the varieties of food available on streets. And Indian streets are known for it.  The Leela Palace has come up with interesting “Street Food Festival” which is on from September 1st on the lobby level at Citrus- The Leela Palace.

I was on cloud nine to attend the exclusive preview held on last Saturday for food lovers. After  everything was set, Chef Zafar Ali gave us a brief introduction about the food festival. We had a list of selected items on the menu from all over the country. I was just excited to experience the street food in The Leela way.

What was on the Chef’s tasting menu?

> A sweet appetizer ‘Punjabi Rose Lassi’ made up of consistent Curd, rose flavored and topped with fresh cream served in a clay pot, a cool way to start the sunny noon.

LP (15)

Tender Coconut water was another appetizer served for the noon.

ON THE TABLE –

> Indian Savory Snacks – Time for some nibbles 🙂 Achappam, Muruku, Nipattu and Banana chips were served in colored bowls. I can just live munching on them all day long!

LP (16)

> Dhokla – Its roots are from Gujarat. Soft, fluffy and perfectly textured dish topped with fresh coriander and served with chutney.

LP (2)

> Palak Pan ki Chaat  – Crunchy and crispy Palak leaves combined with pan, topped with sweet Curd, sweet & Mint chutneys, Pomegranate, Sev and fresh coriander. Light yet tasty Chaat.

LP (3)

> Raj Kachori – Try Kachori in a royal way!
LP (4)

SOUTH INDIAN STREET FOOD –

> Vegetable Kothu Paratha –  Famous south Indian dish which contains slices of paratha well blend with vegetables and tossed in the pan with spices adding flavors to it.

> Chicken Kothu Paratha and Bheja with Egg Dosa are other items on the menu.

FROM THE FRYER –

> Goli Bajji – Perfectly fried Mangalore Bajjis served with Kayi (coconut) chutney was mouth watering.

LP (5)

> Nethili Fry and Jheenga Koliwada were other dishes made out of fish & prawns respectively.

> Paneer Shashlik – Well marinated cottage cheese cubes along with bell peppers and onions were put together which made it a great dish. The spices were just right!

LP (10)

> Beef Phal

LP (17)

> Quail Roast

LP (8)

MAIN COURSE –

> Idiyappam with Paya Kurma – A south Indian dish made of rice flour, baked and made into strings. It was a little different from the usual ones I have tried.

LP (11)

>Soft and perfectly baked Thatte Idly with Coconut Chutney and Sambar was another dish on the main course menu.

DESSERTS STATION –

> Jalebi with hot Badam milk and Rajasthani Malai Kulfi – Wrapped up the meal on a high sweet note. Crunchy sweet Jalebis with badam milk was a treat to my taste buds. While Malai kulfi was just scrumptious!

> Kumbakonam Degree Coffee –  Piping hot strong flavored coffee was served in the end. A must beverage every person needs.

LP (12)

Three cheers to The Leela group for putting up a great show. Kudos to the happy helpers who served us 🙂 Enjoy the most comfortable food in the royal way amidst the falling water, lush greenery or in the cool cubicles lit up by fancy droplights.

Note: I have tried and reviewed only vegetarian dishes.

Dilli Wali Khau Galli Festival – BARBEQUE NATION

What if you could really get to eat the Dilli’s good food, say from Golgappa to Chole Kulche, from Jamoon to Shahi Tukda, from Mughlai dum biriyani to Akbar Ali kabab under one roof? Sounds interesting!

You heard us right, BBQ Nation is celebrating Dilli Wali Khau Galli Festival, majorly based on Delhi’s cuisine. With fellow food lovers, we were happy to be a part of this food festival.

The Delhi setup starts right from the door and continues to the interiors, paintings of Dilli’s famous monuments and colorful flyers. The menu brought the best of Dilli dishes from chats to biryani!

Mango Punch, Gleeche and few other appetizers to start off the evening. Continued with Chats Counter hosted a variety of Dilli’s street food like Golgappa, Dhai Vada, Hariyali Kebab, Chole Kulche and Dahi Papdi. It was a level apart from what you find in streets of Bangalore.

Barbeque Nation is known for its DIY on the grill and with the fest going on, it just got better. Veg starters had Pudina Ananas ki Tikke, Tandoori Malai Kumbh and Dhelvi Panner on grill, Cajun Spiced Potato and Dahi Kebab off the grill. Marination had a touch of Delhi spices. As always Crispy Corn is one thing we’ll never get tired of.

Non-Veg starters were as good as veg counterparts with Surkh Fish Tikka, Murgh Angaara and Nimoda Jhinga on grill. Dilli Dhaba Murgh and Mutton Adraki Seekh off the grill. DDM was perfectly cooked, tender and with spices being on the point stood out from the rest.

The main course had a variety of dishes! It left us confused with what to choose and what to skip. Pot Biryani/Pulao like Sarai Ki Mughlai Dum, Paneer Biriyani and Chandini Chowk ki Subz biryani were the best among all. Aloo Katliya was a new take on potato, with slices boiled and tossed with spices which gave a unique punch.

Who doesn’t have a separate appetite for desserts? Shahi Tukda and Galiyon ki Firni caught our attention because of its great texture and flavors. Apart from these, there were Jamoon, Blueberry Cheesecake, Dark Brownie, Fruit Gataux, Tiramisu and Ice Cream. They tasted as yummy as they sound.

dilli

It was just not about food and decor, but it was also about entertaining the crowd. The music and dance kept the whole atmosphere bright.

Indian Paratha Company

Indian Paratha Company is an upscale cafe which sits on the NH4, near to Bengaluru International Airport with one of the best views to offer. The main concept is to be a pitstop for riders and travellers which provides fresh, fast vegetarian food.

IMG_20160306_172858

We were here as a part of FBAB meetup and IPC had decided what they wanted to serve us. They had a list of items which were popular and we started with a lassi – Patiala Lassi is what we needed after a long drive on a hot sunny day. It was more than just a welcome drink. The curd is blended perfectly, the sweetness is on point and was topped off with Kesar for additional flavours.

IMG_20160306_173033

Pakoda Platter is the best way to spend an evening while sunset was a bonus view! The platter contained Onion Pakoda and Paneer Pakoda, were crisp and the spices were perfect.

IMG_20160306_173943

Achari Masti Paratha was one of our favourites. The filling was just amazing, spices were a treat to taste buds. It was served with curd, pickle, chilli chutney and few slices of onion and capsicum which went hand-in-hand. Spicy food lovers gotta try this.

IMG_20160306_175302

Parathzza, a unique combination of Paratha and Pizza,  we got to try Paneer Tikka Parathzzaa. The base was perfectly cooked while the stuffing was made up of paneer and topped with cheese. Spices could’ve been improved and addition of sauce or pickle would’ve been better.

IMG_20160306_180415_01

Kulfi is our all time favourite dessert. Nothing can match the fun in eating it. The plating of Kulfi was just so simple and appealing. We were served with a great Kulfi indeed.

IMG_20160306_180746

Irish Coffee was a layered drink with Caramel at the bottom, Cream in the middle and Coffee on top with ice cubes. Three layers with three different flavours was surely a tickle to taste buds.

IMG_20160306_181115

A very well maintained place with friendly staff to take care of the customers. Small world which offers great food. Three Cheers to IPC team 🙂

Wahrabia Food Festival at Barbeque Nation

If we get a chance to use Alladin’s Magic Lamp, it would be to have an Arabian food festival. On a similar idea, Barbeque Nation has come up with “Wahrabia Food Festival”, which takes all our taste buds on a magical ride to enjoy the special cuisine of Arabia. The entire decor is set with ‘Arabian Nights’ theme and special dishes to make the experience better. Limited time menu containing a wide range of recipes from Arabia and neatly decorated ambience went hand in hand.

From a long list of mocktails, we ordered Italian Smooch and Liquid Chutney which definitely helped to beat the summer heat.

Moving on to the food, Barbeque National has never failed to serve amazing dishes and the food festival made it even better. The vegetarians had a lot to choose from. Fried Pita bread and Pita Pockets with hummus & few other dips were a good start. Spiced Potato and Crispy Corn never cease to amaze us and with every visit, the taste just gets better. Lebanese Kebab and Afelia Batata are a must try.

Under non-vegetarian, they had signature dishes which included Jujeh Kebab, Rubian Meshwi, Arabian Kafta Lamb Seekh, Farareej el Fahem and Dabel Kebab. They had a special live counter which prepared Kesabi Dejaj, Chicken Shawarma roll and Dabel Kabab. Chicken Shawarma was a small roll which had chopped chicken and couple of vegetables with them. Dabel Kebab was one of my favourites, Chicken served on a stick with good masalas.

We love desserts (who doesn’t, right?) and Barbeque Nation had a lot to offer us. The highlight was the traditional sweet dishes Baklava (a sweet pastry made of layers of chopped nuts and honey) and Muhallabieh (creamy milky pudding with roses and pistachio). Along with these, they had few flavoured ice creams, couple of pastries, fresh fruits and Coconut Walnut Pie.

If you’re one of those planning to celebrate birthday or anniversary, you’re in for a treat. While you enjoy delicious food, the in-house waiters sing and perform 🙂

JP Nagar’s outlet is known for having a great ambience, and with the fest happening the entire setup is made even better. The place is filled with hanging lights, screen suspensions and illustrations of Aladdin and Ginnie themselves. The fest has opened up a window into the culture and flavours of Arabia.

Barbeque Nation @ Rajajinagar with Disco King Bappi Lahiri!

Whenever we think of unlimited buffet, Barbeque Nation is the name that pops right up! Barbeque Nation started their journey sometime in the mid-2006 with the concept of do-it-yourself (DIY) cuisine involving the live-grill on the table for the foodies to have the joy of grilling. This year being their 10th anniversary, they’ve decided to extend to potential areas which they’d missed earlier. As a part of this expansion, they’ve opened a new outlet in West Gate Mall, Rajajinagar – a place within the reach of our neighborhood. We got an invite to witness the inauguration of the outlet with the Disco King Bappi Lahiri starting off the live grill and performing the Disco Barbecue and a couple of other songs to entertain the crowd.

When asked what Bappi Lahiri feels about Barbeque Nation, this is what he had to say – “I am passionate about food and particularly enjoy barbeques. I think Barbeque Nation captures the essence of a barbeque quite well – not just the delicious smoky flavour of food grilled over charcoals, but also the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that accompanies barbeque parties everywhere. I am sure that this outlet, like others across the country, will appeal to food lovers of Bengaluru.”

bnr

We started our meal with quite a good appetizers. Virgin mojito, lime soda and Alphonso mango-flavoured iced tea. The iced tea tasted really good.

bnr (20)

The unlimited buffet consists of a long list of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Starters like Pasta Steak with Sweet Chilly Sauce, Coastal Barbeque Fish and Fried Chicken Wings in Schezwan Sauce deserve a special mention.
Mediterranean Chicken which was well marinated and grilling just makes it a good try! Kalmi Kebab is a leg piece cooked in special kebab masala, a good start along with the barbecue skewers.

bnr (21)

For veg starters we had spicy potato and crispy corn chilli pepper. Crispy corn being our all time favorite. It was perfectly fried and tasted just right on our taste buds.
Apart from this, live grill on the table added to the list of starters. Mix-veggies, pineapple, mushroom, corn, cottage cheese were on the skewers.

bnr (22)

The main course has a number of mouth-watering dishes ranging from Corn Mushroom and Mutter Tamatar to West Coast Fish Curry and Roasted Chicken in demi glaze sauce. They offer Hyderabadi Vegetarian Dum Biryani and Kadai Paneer too. Overall, the main course dishes were tummy filling and tasty 🙂

Desserts are the best part of any meal. We had a wide range of desserts to munch on. We tried few cold cakes , caramel pudding, malai phirni, gulab jamoon and gajar-ka-halwa with vanilla ice cream. Interesting thing here was the LIVE KULFI COUNTER. We got to witness many varieties being served as we were in the queue. Tasted the chef’s choice kulfi. Kesar badam kulfi diced into equal pieces with condensed milk and rooh-afza on it. Topped with falooda, vermicelli & slices of badam & pista.

Ambience – The appearance and feel of the restaurant follows the basic design of Barbeque Nation which is rustic and casual, with wood and brick wall interiors. The Rajajinagar outlet can accommodate up to 128 people. Live-Grill on each table is a great way to keep any foodie excited. There’s live music square. The place gets crowded easily, so it’s recommended to have a reservation.
