Delicacies from Dilli @ Helloo Delhi

Helloo Delhi is relatively a new restaurant located in Koramangala 4th Block. This is the second branch after serving at HSR layout for quite some time. Helloo Delhi is known for serving quality and close-to-authentic food with no complications. I was here with 3 foodie friends for a weekday lunch on an invite to try their menu.

One thing I’ve learnt from visiting north Indian restaurant is that the taste of lassi would decide the rest of the menu. Helloo Delhi nailed it for me with Pisteywali Lassi – creamy, flavourful, bits of Pistachios and perfect sweet! Pisteywali Ā Lassi pretty much set a tone for the afternoon. Next up was Chaas, simple and refreshing drink. An appetizer that many tend to complicate while Helloo Delhi has figured it out. We ended up ordering more Chaas throughout šŸ™‚

We continued our lunch with Tangri Kabab – I absolutely loved this! Spices on point and tandoor gave it a crisp covering. This is a must try! Amritsar Soya Bean Chops, a dish on similar lines of Tangri kabab in terms of flavors. HellooDelhi Murgh Tikka is their signature dish. It’s got great flavors, as all of them are prepared in-house!

Mutton Sheek Kabab is one of the common preparations nowadays, but each restaurant adds a unique touch and Helloo Delhi does it in a special clay pot rather than the normal fire top stand. Not to forget about Bhuna Murgh Tikka, my second favorite dish after Tangri Kabab. A tandoor cooked with Indian spices is always a yay for me!

This is one of those places which got me filled with appetizers, so had to choose a light main course. All of these thoughts vanished when I saw Garlic Butter Naan and Murgh Makkanwala. I mean, who can stop themselves from having a hot naan and creamy gravy? And it doesn’t stop there. Next was Mirchi Paratha and Keema Mattar. By the time I finished this, I barely had any space. I’m not a morning person, but when friends call for a biryani meet – I’ll be the first one to arrive. Similar situation: I rushed through roti and curries, so I could try some of the aromatic Murgh Biryani. Hot, spicy and went great with Murgh Tikka Lababdar. This wrapped up the main course for me, while my friends indulged in other dishes.

As we all know, no Indian meal is complete without desserts. Delhi ki Cassata is a must try if you love icecreams! Another notable mention is Rasmalai which gave the perfect end!

Helloo Delhi has a widespread menu and maintains the taste through all dishes. I wish there was a way to extend my appetite, so I could try some more of their recipes! Loved the entire experience and I’ll definitely be back for more šŸ™‚

Paradise opens at New BEL Road – 18th FBAB Meetup

Whenever we think of food, ‘biriyani’ is what we think of and the next thing is, which is the best place to try Biryanis? This is where Paradise comes into the picture.

Paradise serves one of the best biryani’s in the world. Paradise is the go-to place for Biryani in Hyderabad and they are trying to set the same trend here in Bengaluru. The place is highly appreciated by many celebrities which adds a feather to its pride.

The chain which was limited to the North and East Bangalore has now recently opened up a new outlet in New BEL Road and we were invited to try their dishes as a part of 18th FBAB Meetup on the second working day.

The menu seemed like it was never going to end. So, we decided to try a little of each dish. Started off with Paneer Haryali Tikka, soft cubes of paneer which were perfectly marinated and cooked. It had a smooth texture and the chutney tasted great.

Subz Aur Moongphalli Seekh is one of those dishes that pack a surprise. It’s made up of finely chopped vegetables and topped with roasted peanuts.

pnbr (9)

Then came the Veg Platter which consisted of Paneer 65 & Paneer Tikka, along with Paneer Haryali Tikka & Subz Aur Moongphalli Seekh. Paneer 65 resembles Chicken 65 in terms of taste. Chunks of paneer tossed in spices, couple of chilis and topped with curry leaves. Paneer Tikka, paneer marinated in yoghurt, spices and grilled on tandoor. It has the right amount of spices.

pnbr (13)

Veg Manchurian, fried vegetables in dumpling shape cooked with Manchurian sauce to give it a perfect blend of spices and the garnishing makes it eye-catching.

Apollo Fish was one of the best fish recipes I had. Boneless fish cooked in sauce, green chillies & curry leaves. It is crisped enough to give a crunchy texture, a great starter.

pnbr (18)

Chilli Prawns was one of the highlights, fresh and tender prawns marinated in mixture of spices, deep fried & oil reduced & well garnished.

pnbr (5)

Chilli Chicken, small chunks are deep-fried first and then cooked in tangy chilli sauce which gives it good flavours. Fried chicken with a twist.

pnbr (49)

Mutton Seekh Kebab, minced lamb meat mixed with mild spices and cooked on a skewer. Meat is tender and just melts in your mouth.

pnbr (48)

Veg Biryani, special flavours of spices blend with veggies and basmati rice. Tastes good with raitha.

Special Chicken Biryani, pieces of chicken & basmati rice cooked in many levels with saffron and few spices which makes it a great biryani. It’s massive proportion, easily serves a group of 6-8 members.

Special Mutton Biryani, mixture of rice & lamb meat cooked with saffron, herbs and spices for a long duration to infuse the flavours into each bit of the biryani.Ā Both of the biryanis are served with Mirchi ka Salan and Raita which makes them even more delicious.

Double-ka-meetha is a hyderabadi dessert made of special bread that’s prepared by them. Soaked and served in milk with hint of caradamom.Ā Qubani-ka-meetha, is again a hyderabadi dessert made of apricots served in sweet syrup.

Gajar Halwa & Gulab Jamun, all time favorite dessert of us. It was good and one jamun could leave you filled.

pnbr (29)

The area is pretty huge compared to other outlets, serving in ground level and first level which can take upto an approx of 300 people at once and a dedicated take-away counter. The walls are painted white, decored with photos of celebrities & dishes-in-progress.

Happy about their hospitality and service. Staff are friendly in approach. The whole place is maintained well šŸ™‚

Koshy’s

Koshy’s – The one restaurant that we had in our bucket list from the beginning of the food journey, so on one random afternoon we decided to check-in. As we entered, we saw the placed filled with businessĀ people having a meet or team members having lunch, but no teenagers. Having this thought on the mind, we sat down and noticed we had come into the lunch-only side of the restaurant instead of the usual breakfast-lunch side.

But none the less, we ordered Sweet Lime Soda for the appetizer

khos (01)

and continued with Butter Naan, Panner Butter Masala

khos (7)

and Egg Biryani for the main course.

khos (03)

They served all the dishes at once and as AC was switched on, the food cooled down making it a bit difficult to consume. The ambiance is one of the best, which gives an impression of an old house. They serve the food on a warm ceramic plateĀ which is very rare in the present days.

I’ve no recommendation for this place yet! The food tastes similar to that served in other restaurants, not unique about it.

Downsides – Finding a parking space is tedious work, given that the restaurant is right next to Hard Rock Cafe. This place gets filled up easily, especially on Sunday’s for morning breakfast. The food is bitĀ overpriced compared to the taste and the quantity served, and not to forget the amount of TAX they charge on the bill. If you’re going for the first time, check the AC and Non-AC part of the restaurant before occupying the table.

khos (02)

The staff are dressed in white uniform, who greets us upon entering and taking the seat. They are friendly in approach and usually take care of serving the food instead of just leaving it on the table. I would surely be back for amazing breakfast collection (from what I’ve heard, they are one of the best).

Address –Ā 39, St. Marks Road, Next to Hard Rock Cafe,Ā Bengaluru
