For those people who say vegetarian food is boring, must visit The Great Indian thali located on the 3rd floor of Lotus building at Kormangala. One of the best restaurants that serves authentic Indian Thali. Simple and elegant in ambiance with subtly lit lamps that creates a dramatic environment.
As invitees for #10thFBABMeetup, we visited TGIT. We were about 20 and had a large table reserved for us.
Welcome drink was Watermelon juice which was sweet and tasty. Starters were, Paneer Pancharatan Tikka – It wasn’t great but yes it tasted good. Paneer was a bit hard.
Mint aloo kebab – it was medium level spiced and tasty. Mutter kachori – miniature version of real kachori served with different types of chutneys. Tasted yumm. Golgappa – it was served with sweet and mint pani. One of the best golgappa ever had.
and Dahi Papdi Chat – Papdi being dipped in different chutneys and topped with various spices, dahi and grated beetroot, carrot and pomegranate. Thumbs up for this chat.
Then, came the BIG PICTURE 😛 , the most awaited thali. Main course was started with Batura and Punjabi Chole. It tasted really great. Batura was soft and big enough that it just fills up the tummy. Fulka and roti was other varieties of breads served. As a combination for these, Dum aloo, Vegetable korma, Kadai paneer were served. They also had a dish made out of bitter guard ,forgot the name, but it tasted amazing. First ever time we liked a bitter guard recipe. Then, Veg Biriyani with Raita, Steamed rice and Dal makhani were served and wrapped up the main course with simple curd rice.
Any meal isn’t complete without desserts. So, Gulab Jamoon, Moong Dal Tamatar Halwa and Rasgulla were served. To add up to this, Shrikhand was also served.
Each recipe had it’s unique taste. Our taste buds craved for more food but tummy was out of space 😛 Indeed, we had a great time at TGIT with other foodie friends.
Service was little messed up because we were too many in count, each time the server had to ask us and then serve it on the plate. But they tried their best is what we have to say. Kudos to the organizers of #FBAB!
Must try – Golgappa, Papdi Chat, Dum Aloo, Vegetable Korma, Batura, Shrikhand.
