Sunday Brunch with Techies at The Whitefield Arms!

Whitefield reminds us about more traffic, chaos and tech parks, but it is the new ground for restaurant/pub alike with a new one every now and then! Our favorites being Beer Club and The Irish House, in this post we’ll be looking at our new favorite The Whitefield Arms. TWA is a part of Waverly Hotel & Residences Group, a modern English style pub in VR Bengaluru.

The name TWA has a short story to be shared! It was the name of one of the Bungalows’ Britishers lived in. It’s built in the colonial style of architecture and has got a catchy ambiance! The chessboard flooring, a long bar with high stools, laid back sofa booths and rustic wooden benches outside gives a different vibe altogether! We were 6 of us and decided for an outdoor seating. It was a cool Sunday afternoon with drizzles outside, good light for pictures to be captured and we tucked into a wooden bench while listening to the Chef’s talks.

Also, they had a mango festival called ”Mango Melange” which included a special mango infused menu. So ordered Mango Margarita, the classic margarita with mango, little spices to balance out the flavors, and liquid nitrogen to create a dramatic background! After the photo session, we enjoyed our drink.

Mulligatwany Soup and TWA chips with Dal Makhani. Mulligatwany Soup tasted much like the pepper soup from Madras, but much thicker and lot tastier! TWA Chips was the best slider for beer. Crunchy fries topped with dal makhani, cheese and chopped onions.

Non-Veg Platter was the one *just made for me* types. An assorted collection of shrimp, chicken, lamb and fish kababs in different marinations. My favorite was the chicken preparation, also known as Barrack’s Special. Ruskin Mutton was a spicy sheekh kabab served with hung curd and mint chutney. These left a tickling sensation in my tongue!

Goat cheese and Caramelized Orion Tartlets was a delight to eat. Crispy caramelized onions, goat cheese, and the savory tarts altogether were a pack of happiness to munch on! Next up was on the healthier side, Warm goat cheese with asparagus and fresh mango vinaigrette- A soft base topped with sprouts and mango salsa, stuffed with goat cheese, fresh mango vinaigrette, and asparagus dressing, was all that it took to make us go for another round!

*Crunch, Crunch* Yeah! We were crunching on the spicy taco filled with falafel and mango sprouts salad. The blending of soft falafel and the taco with mango was perfect!

And it was time for some veggie main course – Spinach Cheese and Potato Dumplings in Saffron rice – Crispy fried dumplings stuffed with potato and spinach, dipped and served in rich tomato puree with some saffron rice left us with happy faces.

"Spinach

Roast Lamb Shoulder was my favorite for 3 reasons – taste, presentation, and lightness. Slow cooked with saffron and spices, placed on top of saffron rice and served with mint yogurt. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the mint yogurt accompanied the dish brilliantly!

"Roast

Wrapped up the day with some fresh Mango Pannacotta shots. The pannacotta was consistent and the sweetness was on point. Fresh mango added to the taste! Couldn’t stop with one 😛

Three cheers to the entire team of TWA and special thanks to the happy helpers who served us 🙂 We had a great experience!

Cost: ₹1500 for two (with alcohol).
