The Kabab Studio

The Kabab studio is now open, renovated and rejuvenated. It is one of the places which was on our bucket list from a long time. When we finally got a chance to try it, excitement peaked. We have heard that it has gained a lot of attention among foodies and others, since the renovation. Ambience has got a major overhaul which makes the dining experience better!

IMG_20160315_200301

Starters are divided into – live grill and on the plate. Live Grill is our all time fav for the simple reason that it can be taken warm throughout the meal. Grilled Pineapple – This fruit is one of the nicest creations in nature. When this is grilled and roasted to perfect brown with some seasonings, nothing can match its taste. Tandoori Chicken never cease to amaze me and Hydrabadi Fish Tikka was just amazing. The meat was tender and spices were perfect on them.

IMG_20160315_201259

On the plate is where the things get interesting because of the varieties served. We were one of those few lucky ones who got to try Tangdi Kulfi, their signature dish. Chicken leg piece blend with kulfi wrapped in foil to let flavours infuse while standing out! The aroma itself keeps one astonished and it’s amazing to see how two opposite ingredients can do wonders. Along with Tangdi Kulfi, we also had Malai Paneer Tikka, Veg Croquettes, Pani Puri, Special Dhai Puri and Mutton Seekh Kabab.

Drinks: We had a long list of mocktails and cocktails being served while we were trying other recipes. Every drink was served with utmost care. Each drink had its unique taste and twists that kept us excited to try more. Few were fruits based, while few were tamarind & coriander based, others were lemon grass & curry leaves and tea, basil leaves based. While serving, we were enlightened about each drink, which was much more interesting 🙂

TKS OK is a signature mocktail of The Kabab Studio (hence the name TKS OK) which says everything will be ok, made up of an orange & basil base. It is served within a lantern with a small opening from where the drinking straw falls out. A bang in terms of flavours and a great way to start the evening.

The Last Tea was one of the interesting cocktail served here. The tastes resemble a lot like tea with hints of vodka. It is served in a glass jar topped with dry ice which gives it a smoky appearance.

IMG_20160315_202325

Santa Banta took us back to school days where we used to have cool mango shakes in hot summer to kill the heat. A strong mango-based cocktail served in a soda bottle which has a great taste. Feels nostalgic.

P. Naa was light based cocktail served in a feeding bottle, it may look funny but has a lot to offer. A mixture of flavourings which leaves you wanting more.

IMG_20160315_203505

Mary Teri, an inside out Bloody Mary. A tomato juice based cocktail which has spices on point which leaves a unique taste. It is served inside a bigger glass with dry ice and water which makes it bit wobbling, so take precautions.

IMG_20160315_205213

Apart from these drinks we also had Tedhi Medhi Martini, Cucumber Basil, Spiced Fusion, Win Fizz and Lemon Grass Curry leaves Martini.

Main Course is as usual spread widely – hosting veggies, salads, scrumptious dishes and more. Some of which we tried were Penne Pasta with Pesto Sauce, Paneer Lababdar, Andhra Gosht Biryani, Shahi Murgh, Veg Thai Noodles with Hunan Prawns. Roti ki gaadi is again a unique idea of serving Indian Breads in a truck. The gaadi carried naan, stuffed naan and garlic butter naan which went great with the curries from the counter.

No meal is complete without desserts and The Kabab Studio offers a wide range to choose from.
Black Currant Cheese Cake was small, cheesy and soft, a layer of blackcurrant preserve with a cherry top.
Sweet Curds was thick, consistent and had the perfect level of sweetness. Fruit Trifle presentation was a feast to our tiny eyes. So colourful yet tasty. Fruit Rabdi and Angoori Robja are other desserts on the plate.

IMG_20160315_212030

Live Icecream counter took the concept of customising ice creams 😀 We had Chocolate-Vanilla and Oreo-Vanilla combo. The addition of chocolate sauce and crushed nuts made it better.

IMG_20160315_211931

We just loved the whole setup of the studio. The rooftop with slanted walls, glazed openings, cool breeze and lights as far as the end of the city fills up the view. Open-kitchen which allows us to see what happens in the cooking station is a major thing. Inside is adaptive-lit making it easy. There’s a tv which showcases any sporting event happening live. Right below the TV is a live music centre, 3 member band, who sings famous 80’s 90’s Kannada & Hindi tracks. Each table has a request card in which you can write your choice of song.

IMG_20160315_201041

Service is quick and you’re barely left with the empty plate. The happy helpers are always on a lookout if we need anything. Quick on toes and help with anything required. Three Cheers to the management and happy helpers for making the entire experience a wonderful memory 🙂

Highly Recommended if you wish to have great food, enjoy amazing drinks and experience fine dining while sitting in the terrace top restaurant.

Indian Paratha Company

Indian Paratha Company is an upscale cafe which sits on the NH4, near to Bengaluru International Airport with one of the best views to offer. The main concept is to be a pitstop for riders and travellers which provides fresh, fast vegetarian food.

IMG_20160306_172858

We were here as a part of FBAB meetup and IPC had decided what they wanted to serve us. They had a list of items which were popular and we started with a lassi – Patiala Lassi is what we needed after a long drive on a hot sunny day. It was more than just a welcome drink. The curd is blended perfectly, the sweetness is on point and was topped off with Kesar for additional flavours.

IMG_20160306_173033

Pakoda Platter is the best way to spend an evening while sunset was a bonus view! The platter contained Onion Pakoda and Paneer Pakoda, were crisp and the spices were perfect.

IMG_20160306_173943

Achari Masti Paratha was one of our favourites. The filling was just amazing, spices were a treat to taste buds. It was served with curd, pickle, chilli chutney and few slices of onion and capsicum which went hand-in-hand. Spicy food lovers gotta try this.

IMG_20160306_175302

Parathzza, a unique combination of Paratha and Pizza,  we got to try Paneer Tikka Parathzzaa. The base was perfectly cooked while the stuffing was made up of paneer and topped with cheese. Spices could’ve been improved and addition of sauce or pickle would’ve been better.

IMG_20160306_180415_01

Kulfi is our all time favourite dessert. Nothing can match the fun in eating it. The plating of Kulfi was just so simple and appealing. We were served with a great Kulfi indeed.

IMG_20160306_180746

Irish Coffee was a layered drink with Caramel at the bottom, Cream in the middle and Coffee on top with ice cubes. Three layers with three different flavours was surely a tickle to taste buds.

IMG_20160306_181115

A very well maintained place with friendly staff to take care of the customers. Small world which offers great food. Three Cheers to IPC team 🙂

Malgudi Vattika

On a bright sunny day, we pulled our seatbelts tight and set on a long drive towards Bidadi and little did we knew about Malgudi Vattika. Dropped off the car and looked out to see amazing restaurant amidst nature. Tall coconut trees, tiny shrubs, bright green grass, stone boards, antique furniture, good food, happy helpers made our long drive worthy 🙂

mv (15)

We were welcomed with cool lime soda and buttermilk which is just needed on a sunny day. A perfect cool welcome we would say 🙂 Lime Soda had right proportions of nimbu, sugar & salt and Buttermilk was perfectly blended with spices and coriander.

Halli Katte is a hidden treasure, spread behind the parking lot under the shades of lush greens which is used to host private events or group gatherings. A lot of board games like Snake-and-Ladder, Tic-Tac-Toe, Pagade (traditional game) and Alla-Gulli-Mane are available here, that just reminded us about our lively childhood 🙂

It’s a tradition in South India to start a meal with sweet to ensure a happy meal which is followed at Malgudi Vattika. We started with Kayi Holige and Menasinakai Bajji. Holige is a type of Indian sweet bread stuffed with coconut & jaggery (hoorna) which was fried perfectly and served with ghee. Bajji was served hot which left us for wanting more.

Paneer Tikka was next on the line, a vibrant dish both in terms of flavours and colors. Cottage Cheese marinated in spice mixture and cooked to perfection.

mv (13)

mv (14)

The most awaited South Indian meal was next on the line. The portions were huge and the copper plates made them heavy. This is a complete meal containing Curries, Salad, Chutney and Jolada Roti/Puri. There’s rice meal available too. There are very few places that prepare amazing Jolada Roti and Malgudi Vattika undoubtedly is one among them. Rice-rasam combo gave the perfect end to the long meal.

mv (2)

The meals were followed by Veg Handi Biriyani and Veg Pulao. Two rice dishes rich in flavours, looked alike (with one of them having paneer) while tasting unique. We’d say the presence of sweetness reminded us of days at Kerala.

mv (6)

mv (5)

Makkai ki Roti and Sarson da Saag, a dish as fancy as the name. The roti was loaded with butter & corn flavours. Sarson da Saag was a delight to taste buds. This being our first try with the dish, we weren’t let down.

mv (4)

mv (3)

After good starters and heavy meal, we ordered a couple of fresh fruit juices. Watermelon, Chikoo Milkshake and Pineapple are few to mention.

The ambience is bright with lush greens, high trees and cool breeze. If you’re one of those who’d travel to have good food, then you’re in for a treat at Malgudi Vattika. The entire setup gives you a nostalgic feel and starts right from the small light posts to the large dining tables. A class apart from the ones found in the city. One of the classiest that we have come across. The lawn has some of the highlights like antique furniture, a cycle, rustic trunk and a life-size bullock cart.

Not to forget, hospitality and the service were really good. Three cheers to the entire team of Malgudi Vattika 🙂

IMG_20160226_213156

A long menu is a nightmare for any foodie, and Cookaroo has tackled this with an efficient short menu. One fine day, we were all set to taste their recipes. We started off with Alfredo White Sauce Pasta which had Rich and Creamy texture! The melting Cheese gave great flavours. The addition of Capsicum, Mushroom and Baby Corn made

We started with Alfredo White Sauce Pasta with garlic bread which had Rich and Creamy texture. The melting Cheese gave great flavours. The addition of Capsicum, Mushroom and Baby Corn made it even more delicious.

IMG_20160226_213931

Paneer Masala with Phulka was a perfect combination. Cubes of Fresh cottage cheese with spices made it just right to eat. The curry is light and packs good flavours. Phulka is something they’ve figured out, it’s soft and fried well.

IMG_20160226_213906

Chicken Fried Rice with Chili Garlic Sauce is one of my favourites. I had tried it from a Chinese restaurant and every other place didn’t quite live up my expectation. Cookaroo was a new try for me, being worried I took my first bite and it was amazing. They have got the taste right on.

IMG_20160226_213947

Non-Veg Combo packs in huge portions. The chilli chicken was on point with the spice, a treat to the tastebuds! Chicken Gravy made the entire dish a delight, less oil, tender pieces of chicken and right flavours. Dhal makhani was light and ends the meal perfectly. Phulka was soft even after a long duration.

IMG_20160226_213841

Packaging plays a crucial role, especially in a food-delivery startup. Cookaroo uses the high-grade containers, convenient and keeps the food warm for a long time. While all dishes were packed in easy containers with a removable covering, the meal was packed with spill-proof cover to hold it together.

Paradise opens at New BEL Road – 18th FBAB Meetup

Whenever we think of food, ‘biriyani’ is what we think of and the next thing is, which is the best place to try Biryanis? This is where Paradise comes into the picture.

Paradise serves one of the best biryani’s in the world. Paradise is the go-to place for Biryani in Hyderabad and they are trying to set the same trend here in Bengaluru. The place is highly appreciated by many celebrities which adds a feather to its pride.

pnbr (27)

The chain which was limited to the North and East Bangalore has now recently opened up a new outlet in New BEL Road and we were invited to try their dishes as a part of 18th FBAB Meetup on the second working day.

The menu seemed like it was never going to end. So, we decided to try a little of each dish. Started off with Paneer Haryali Tikka, soft cubes of paneer which were perfectly marinated and cooked. It had a smooth texture and the chutney tasted great.

pnbr (12)

Subz Aur Moongphalli Seekh is one of those dishes that pack a surprise. It’s made up of finely chopped vegetables and topped with roasted peanuts.

pnbr (9)

Then came the Veg Platter which consisted of Paneer 65 & Paneer Tikka, along with Paneer Haryali Tikka & Subz Aur Moongphalli Seekh. Paneer 65 resembles Chicken 65 in terms of taste. Chunks of paneer tossed in spices, couple of chilis and topped with curry leaves. Paneer Tikka, paneer marinated in yoghurt, spices and grilled on tandoor. It has the right amount of spices.

pnbr (13)

Veg Manchurian, fried vegetables in dumpling shape cooked with Manchurian sauce to give it a perfect blend of spices and the garnishing makes it eye-catching.

Apollo Fish was one of the best fish recipes I had. Boneless fish cooked in sauce, green chillies & curry leaves. It is crisped enough to give a crunchy texture, a great starter.

pnbr (18)

Chilli Prawns was one of the highlights, fresh and tender prawns marinated in mixture of spices, deep fried & oil reduced & well garnished.

pnbr (5)

Chilli Chicken, small chunks are deep-fried first and then cooked in tangy chilli sauce which gives it good flavours. Fried chicken with a twist.

pnbr (49)

Mutton Seekh Kebab, minced lamb meat mixed with mild spices and cooked on a skewer. Meat is tender and just melts in your mouth.

pnbr (48)

Veg Biryani, special flavours of spices blend with veggies and basmati rice. Tastes good with raitha.

Special Chicken Biryani, pieces of chicken & basmati rice cooked in many levels with saffron and few spices which makes it a great biryani. It’s massive proportion, easily serves a group of 6-8 members.

Special Mutton Biryani, mixture of rice & lamb meat cooked with saffron, herbs and spices for a long duration to infuse the flavours into each bit of the biryani. Both of the biryanis are served with Mirchi ka Salan and Raita which makes them even more delicious.

Double-ka-meetha is a hyderabadi dessert made of special bread that’s prepared by them. Soaked and served in milk with hint of caradamom. Qubani-ka-meetha, is again a hyderabadi dessert made of apricots served in sweet syrup.

pnbr (31)

Gajar Halwa & Gulab Jamun, all time favorite dessert of us. It was good and one jamun could leave you filled.

pnbr (29)

The area is pretty huge compared to other outlets, serving in ground level and first level which can take upto an approx of 300 people at once and a dedicated take-away counter. The walls are painted white, decored with photos of celebrities & dishes-in-progress.

Happy about their hospitality and service. Staff are friendly in approach. The whole place is maintained well 🙂
