Band Baaja Barbeque

What if you could really get to eat a wedding feast without having to wait for someone to get married? From golgappas to tangdi kabab, from grills to shadi ka biryani, from rasgulla to kulfis. Too good to be true for anyone, but not anymore.

You heard us right, Barbeque Nation is hosting a wedding themed festival, majorly based on the popular dishes served at a wedding.

The entire ambiance gave the feel of a typical wedding scene and the music can make anyone start dancing! The waiters were dressed up in the traditional wear and this is one of the reasons why we are regulars at Barbeque Nation – they take care of the tiniest detail.
BN

Barbeque Nation is known for its DIY on the grill, so without much further ado – we started off with some Pardesi piya ke Paneer Wale Tikke and Taka Tak Mushroomi Mausi on the grill. Of the both, mushroom turned out to be my fav because of it’s stuffing. Crispy Corn and Cajun Spiced Potato are the dishes we look forward to each time when we are at Barbeque Nation.
BN

Non-Veg starters were as good as veg counterparts with Nawabi Jija ke Gosht Seekh and Amritsari Fufa ji ki Machliyan. Not to forget the Tangdi Chicken! Perfectly cooked, tender and customised spice level – nothing can go wrong!
BN

The main course had a variety of dishes! Started off with some Chilli Chicken and Noodles before moving onto BIRYANI! Delicious chicken biryani after a long day of work is just what I needed.
BN

Do we like to finish in style? Definitely! I love the kulfi’s at BN and who’s to stop us? Paan’s my all time fav. Apart from this, we also had rasgulla, brownie, and the humble vanilla ice cream :p
BN

The festival is on from 26th Oct to 12th Nov, so book your tables now and visit the nearest outlet (Indiranagar, JP Nagar, Lido Mall, Koramangala, Kalyan Nagar, Marathahalli, Rajajinagar, Electronic City and Whitefield).

Go Native – Farm-to-table!

When half the world is running towards fast food, relish burgers, freak-shakes, giant sundaes with five scoops of ice cream and everything else, the other half are promoting organicย way of eating, sustainable and ecological practices. Go Native is one among them. A couple of months old restaurant located in Jayanagar amidst the lush green garden with cozy interiors & artifacts on walls, serving veg food only. This place also has lifestyle and souvenir stores. Do check them out as they have got quite a good collection of brands which again are nature-friendly. They encourage sustainable practices in their restaurant. Be it the ingredients used in the kitchen or the crockery used to serve food, everything is nature-friendly. Also, they nurture the local farmers by using the crops they grow. The menu keeps changing based on the seasonal crops. The waste here is recycled and they make sure less waste goes out of the kitchen.

With a group of fellow food bloggers and Skreem team, I was here to check out their South Indian delicacies. We started with some refreshing watermelon cooler, freshly pressed carrot & chia seeds juice for the afternoon. The colors were truly attractive.

Up next were from the small plates section. Rich & healthy summer salad made of raw mango, raw papaya, cucumber, some sprouts & fresh coconut to top it off. The tangy- sweetish flavor made it a great one.
gonavtive (2)

Aloo Patha bhindi chaat was absolutely a delight. Simple potato chaat with a twist of fried bhindi & fried spinach took it to entirely a new level.
gonavtive (5)

Mangalore buns here are too PERFECT! Fluffy hot buns with coconut chutney enhanced my entire experience. I would say these are one among the best in namma Bengaluru.
gonavtive (7)

Paniyaram/ paddu was served with red chutney & drumstick sambar. They were crispy and yes went well with chutney than sambar.
gonavtive (3)

Yam Gallouti made of coin Malabar parathas, pan seared yam, topped with mango salsa was a good dish to try!

Bisi bele millet fritters was a unique dish among all. Deeply fried Bisi bele millet balls were served with chutney. Try this if you love experimenting with new dishes.
gonavtive (4)

After a long list of small plates, we indulged into the Mango special Thali and Kathal biryani. Mango special thali mainly had mango rice but the flavor went unnoticed, Aam ras/ mango Srikarni, Puri, Kadale curry, payasam, brinjal chutney, papad & mango salad priced at 200/- Worth the money, I would say.
gonavtive (11)

Kathal/ jackfruit biryani was served with raitha and papad/ rice& ragi vadams, which was again subtle on flavors, coz of the lower level of spices. Try if you like jackfruit ๐Ÿ˜›
gonavtive (10)

Wrapped our lunch with in-house made special dessert platter which had carrot halwa/ gajar halwa tart, ragi pancakes topped with mango, in-house made vanilla ice cream and millets, Ice-apple/ taati-nungu pana cotta and mango cake with in-house made vanilla ice cream.

Overall, I had an amazing culinary experience at Go Native amidst the lush green. Happy helpers are quick on feet and serve your orders quickly. I would say this is one stop for nature loving people as you can shop, eat and treat yourself ๐Ÿ™‚

Delicacies from Dilli @ Helloo Delhi

Helloo Delhi is relatively a new restaurant located in Koramangala 4th Block. This is the second branch after serving at HSR layout for quite some time. Helloo Delhi is known for serving quality and close-to-authentic food with no complications. I was here with 3 foodie friends for a weekday lunch on an invite to try their menu.

One thing I’ve learnt from visiting north Indian restaurant is that the taste of lassi would decide the rest of the menu. Helloo Delhi nailed it for me with Pisteywali Lassi – creamy, flavourful, bits of Pistachios and perfect sweet! Pisteywali ย Lassi pretty much set a tone for the afternoon. Next up was Chaas, simple and refreshing drink. An appetizer that many tend to complicate while Helloo Delhi has figured it out. We ended up ordering more Chaas throughout ๐Ÿ™‚
IMG_20170120_133204-01

We continued our lunch with Tangri Kabab – I absolutely loved this! Spices on point and tandoor gave it a crisp covering. This is a must try! Amritsar Soya Bean Chops, a dish on similar lines of Tangri kabab in terms of flavors. HellooDelhi Murgh Tikka is their signature dish. It’s got great flavors, as all of them are prepared in-house!
IMG_20170120_133718-01

Mutton Sheek Kabab is one of the common preparations nowadays, but each restaurant adds a unique touch and Helloo Delhi does it in a special clay pot rather than the normal fire top stand. Not to forget about Bhuna Murgh Tikka, my second favorite dish after Tangri Kabab. A tandoor cooked with Indian spices is always a yay for me!

IMG_20170120_135112-01

This is one of those places which got me filled with appetizers, so had to choose a light main course. All of these thoughts vanished when I saw Garlic Butter Naan and Murgh Makkanwala. I mean, who can stop themselves from having a hot naan and creamy gravy? And it doesn’t stop there. Next was Mirchi Paratha and Keema Mattar. By the time I finished this, I barely had any space. I’m not a morning person, but when friends call for a biryani meet – I’ll be the first one to arrive. Similar situation: I rushed through roti and curries, so I could try some of the aromatic Murgh Biryani. Hot, spicy and went great with Murgh Tikka Lababdar. This wrapped up the main course for me, while my friends indulged in other dishes.
IMG_20170120_144740-01-01

As we all know, no Indian meal is complete without desserts. Delhi ki Cassata is a must try if you love icecreams! Another notable mention is Rasmalai which gave the perfect end!
IMG_20170120_152419-01

Helloo Delhi has a widespread menu and maintains the taste through all dishes. I wish there was a way to extend my appetite, so I could try some more of their recipes! Loved the entire experience and I’ll definitely be back for more ๐Ÿ™‚

#431, Forklore Bistro: Brunch and Conversations!

Forklore, a bistro tucked away on the busy 80ft Road. Bright white and blue walls, lush green herb garden, welcoming staff, few novels, good music, great company, and amazing food is the best way to describe Forklore. A sweet home well transformed into a bistro.

The Bistro is looked up by a young couple, Tripti & Sanjay – A passionate chef and rock band artist, who prove that food and music go hand-in-hand!

We were here with a couple of friends for Sunday Brunch on invite! There’s nothing greater than a conversation with like-minded folks! We spoke for more than 4hours, the food got us stuck to our chairs ๐Ÿ˜€

Well, we started off with Fruity Booty, in-house Sangria which can get anyone going for a second glass. A non-traditional smooth drink with hints of fruits in each sip! The fruity juice pack flavors while balancing out the wine. And not to forget one of our bloggers replaced her water glass with Sangria! Would you fancy this booty?

forklore (1)

As we indulged in sangria, Egg and Mushroom Pies were served. A puff and crispy base topped with sunny-side-up egg, herbs, and caramelized onions left us to drool. Mushroom Pie was topped with generous amount of spicy mushroom and mayonnaise. Chai loved the Egg pie while the others loved Mushroom pie!

forklore (3)

Salads are something which doesn’t amaze us, but the watermelon and feta salad proved it wrong! A plate full of in-house grown herbs, topped with chunks of watermelon, balsamic vinegar, hints of honey and the sourness from the cream made this salad a great one.

forklore (4)

On the same note, next up was Chicken and Smoked Sausage Salad topped with lettuce, olives, onions and garlic vinaigrette. This again proved me wrong, and makes me wonder how a salad could taste so good!

forklore (5)

Pancakes are something that’s always been just a dessert for us and Forklore has taken it to next level with fillings in it. A sweet and savory dish, stuffed either with Maple Bacon or Carrot-Spring Onion topped with sour cream, leaves you wondering how a dish can be worked on to give a new taste!

forklore (7)

forklore (6)

Steak is a common dish but barely prepared right in most of the places. Without much expectations, we tried Chicken Steak (with Lemon Butter Sauce), Lamb steak (with BBQ Sauce and Creamy Mushroom) with mashed potatoes. The chicken was perfectly cooked, went so good with mashed potatoes but Lamb could’ve been a little better.

forklore (8)

Lamb Pizza (with Harrisa Sauce) is when things got cheesier! Thin crust, tangy-spicy sauce, generous cheese topping just melted my heart. This is Nav’s fav pizza from the list he has tried!

forklore (9)

Hawaiian Pizza caught my eyes! The thin crust lavishly topped with melting cheese, colorful bell peppers, olives, a layer of tomato sauce with hints of garlic flavor, baby corn and slices of pineapple.

forklore (10)

Monk in the middle, must try dessert if you love chocolate. Layers of melting dark chocolate with hints of rum flavor. Strawberry Fields Forever was our favorite dessert. A bowl of yogurt filled with fresh strawberries and crunchy bits of walnut added to the taste.

forklore (11)

The waiters were a little off in terms of menu knowledge and nevertheless, the service went on well. Three cheers to Chef Tripti and Mr. Sanjay who is the man behind her ๐Ÿ™‚ We enjoyed your playlist, sir. Thank you.

Prices are on a little higher end, but definitely worth the try. Highly recommended ๐Ÿ™‚

Get Stoned with Ice Creams at Stoned Monkey!

Koramangala is a food hub, with a new restaurant opening every now and then! The recent addition is Stoned Monkey, a dessert parlor which serves some fresh and delicious stoned icecreams. A tiny outlet with a bright-backlit wall and colorful illustrations of monkey.

Visited post-lunch with a friend to grab some of their special sundaes! The place had few customers who were indulging in icecreams and the happiness on their face said everything. I even had an opportunity to interact with the owner of the branch, who was kind enough to explain the process of Stone Icecream (sundaes made by beating up icecreams and sweet add-ons on a frozen stone).

stoned

Interesting fact – The Master (person who works with ice-cream), creates 31 varieties of stone beaten sundaes with 6 basic flavors (Vanilla, Chocolate, Butterscotch, Coffee, Strawberry, and Blackcurrant). The ice-creams are brought in from the central kitchen in small quantities to maintain the freshness and taste. They also sell Red Velvet and Chocolate cupcakes in small quantities.

Strong Coffee + Dark Chocolate + Milano Cookie = Via Milano! Probably the best way to describe. The usage of original Milano cookie adds flavor which is not found in its substitutes. Subtle in flavor, with light bitter notes. The joy of being able to have coffee and chocolate is immense!

stoned

Black Mischief is the only blackcurrant-based sundae. It is mixed with vanilla, sponge and white sauce (liqueur flavored) giving it a punch! A scrumptious treat not to be missed.

stoned

Cheese Garlic Bread, soft bread topped with chili flakes, garlic and a generous amount of melting cheese! This is a must need in between icecreams.

stoned

I’m a kind of person who loves to end a meal with sweet paan and in this case, icecream meal ๐Ÿ˜› It is pretty obvious where I’m heading with this – Paan Banaras! A vanilla based ice cream with home-made maghai paan, dates, gulkan, topped with tutti-frutti and whipped cream! A delight in each bite ๐Ÿ™‚

stoned

The prices may seem little high, but the taste and quantity make up for it. Three cheers to the entire team and happy helpers. I had a great experience and will surely be back for more! Highly Recommended ๐Ÿ™‚
